Planning
Plan, resource and supervise delivery of assigned audit projects so that projects are delivered on time;
Supervision
Review internal auditorsā work and internal audit files during and at the conclusion of audit assignments for quality assurance to ensure that audit work is inĀ accordance with Institute of Internal Auditorsā standards and Mintek Internal AuditĀ methodology; Monitors workloads of all team members; adjusts and re-distributes assignments accordingly to promote work-life balance.
Execution
Ā Undertake complex or sensitive audit work within projects; Ensure that all assignments are conducted in accordance with Institute of InternalĀ Auditors (IIA) standards and are in line with the annual plan Ensure that all audit-related documentation for defined projects meet IIA standardsĀ and Mintek Audit methodology; Conduct ad hoc investigations and assist in providing advisory services at management request and produce recommendations to ensure timely resolution of issues and/or business improvement
Reporting
Provide regular feedback on progress of audit assignments to the auditees and theĀ Head of Internal Audit; Compile list of findings, draft reports and final audit reports at the conclusion ofĀ audit assignments Prepare (or coordinates the preparation of) complex written documents and presentations.
Project Management
Ensure that assigned audit work and that of internal auditors is in accordance with quality assurance standards.
Training
Ā Assist in identifying staff development areas and recommending training programmes to ensure sustainable quality project delivery Ensure that adequate time and resources are available to support learning objectives of self and others
People management
Ā Motivate and direct project team members so that they produce consistent, high quality performance, as well as monitor performance of project team membersĀ taking swift action when performance deviates from plan; Provide regular feedback and coaching to internal auditors on their performance,Ā so that they maintain and develop skills and competence levels; Establish and communicate roles and expectations for staff at the start of theĀ project; provide clear guidance and direction Address conflicts in a timely, sensitive manner; escalates to the Head of InternalĀ Audit when appropriate.
Performance management
Provide regular feedback to internal auditors on their performance, so that they
maintain and develop skills and competence levels; Ensure that performance issues are addressed in a timely manner; counsel team
members with performance issues. Provide timely, meaningful, constructive verbal and written feedback.
Coaching and Mentoring
Maintain an open door policy for staff members to discuss their aspirational goals and how they might be achieved in line with Mintekās coaching and mentoring policy. Serve as a resource when staff face an ethical or business conduct dilemma
Communication
Communicate effectively at all levels including operational level, middle management, senior management and executive level. Present audit reports in the absence of the Head: Internal Audit.
Relationship management
Build and maintain relationships with auditees.
Minimum requirements
Honours Degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting, Finance, Risk Management or related field (). Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Charted Accountant CA(SA) Minimum of 5 years of auditing experience with 2 years at a Supervisory level. Internal Audit related training. Completed SAICA Articles.
Strong knowledge of auditing standards, procedures, and techniques. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong leadership and team management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and as a team.
