National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Environmental Management or related studies (Environmental Science; Nature Conservation; Environmental Health; Waste Management; Ecology; Natural Resource Management); Valid Code B driver's licence; With 2-3 years' relevant experience in environmental management, waste management, environmental compliance, or municipal environmental services. Proficiency in MS Office application; Excellent organizational and administrative skills; Excellent analytic and problem-solving ability; High level of integrity, responsibility and confidentiality; Have ability to give attention to detail and be able to work under pressure; Report writing; Communication Skills; Ability to deal with conflict situations; Excellent Negotiation skill.
To monitor compliance with environmental legislation and municipal by-laws; Conduct environmental inspections and investigations; Monitor municipal landfill sites and waste management facilities; Coordinate environmental awareness and education programmes; Assist with the implementation of the Integrated Waste Management Plan (IWMP); Monitor illegal dumping and coordinate enforcement actions; Conduct environmental impact assessments and site inspections where applicable; Prepare environmental compliance reports; Monitor water quality, air quality, and pollution incidents; Liaise with the Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment (DFFE), provincial environmental departments, and other regulatory authorities; Develop and implement environmental management plans; Support climate change and biodiversity initiatives; Coordinate environmental campaigns such as clean-up programmes, recycling initiatives, and Arbor Month activities.
