Medication Dispensing:Dispensing of Medication under direct supervision of PharmacistPrecisely interpret prescriptions and perform professional and responsible actions in compliance with legal requirements as per the South African Pharmaceutical Council. •Record script details accurately and verify patient information in the system. Ensure precise picking/packing/labelling and inspection of medication, being aware of standard dosages and potential drug interactions. Provide patients with correct instructions on the proper usage of supplied medications. Keep updated on changes in medical aid procedures and claim requirements for dispensing. Customer Service:Assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front-shop area. Follow up with patients on script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager and arrange follow-up appointments. Explain all medical aid costs to patients. Administration:Complete all required paperwork for accurate submission of claims to medical aids. Resolve errors on scripts rejected by medical aid. Ensure authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medications. Maintain customer profiles in the system. Merge profiles both locally and in Vexall – notify central merging as necessary. Take note of any messages on the customer profile and take appropriate action. Stock Control:Report low/out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager. Conduct bi-annual stock takes. Exercise control over stock, cash, and assets. Competencies:Essential:In-depth knowledge of medicine, including common dosing regimes, interactions, and counseling for effective and appropriate treatment outcomes. Understanding of Retail in the context of pharmacy. Ability to think criticallyExcellent communication skills for guiding patients on medication usage and side effects. Excellent communication skills, including ability to interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
