Our client is a well-established South African OEM that designs, manufactures, tests and commissions mineral processing equipment and plants for the mining industry. They operate an ISO 9001 (TÜV SÜD) certified quality system and follow a concurrent engineering approach across business development, engineering, projects and fabrication.
Lead the Process Engineering function within the Business Development (Capital) department. You will own process design, simulation and integration across the full product range, support technical sales and tenders, and oversee technical deliverables from concept through commissioning, making sure process performance guarantees are met.
You will report to the Group CEO and Director: Group Technical & Business Development and oversee the Business Development Office Manager, Senior BD Engineer, BD Administrator, Product Specialists, Test Rig Operator and Metallurgical Intern.
Key responsibilitiesLead process design: flow sheets, mass and energy balances, PFDs and P&IDsDevelop, validate and improve metallurgical and mechanical process modelsSupport business development and projects with technical sales, proposals, pricing and tendersIdentify new business opportunities and manage key client accountsLead root cause analyses, performance audits and technical investigationsDrive innovation through R&D, new process technologies, simulation tools and test protocolsPlan and manage the business development budget and team performanceRepresent the company at conferences, trade shows, client negotiations and webinarsOwn the Business Development (Capital) process within the ISO 9001 quality systemMinimum requirements Bachelor's degree in Metallurgical or Mechanical Engineering (or relevant tertiary qualification)5+ years' sales and marketing experience in an OEM engineering and fabrication environmentMinimum 3 years in a leadership / management roleProven experience in hydrometallurgy, comminution, beneficiation, flotation, thickening, filtration and/or tailings handlingSite commissioning and plant performance testing background (essential)Process simulation software, e.g. METSIM, HSC Chemistry, ASPEN Plus or equivalentWilling to travel locally and internationallyAdvantageous MBA or related qualificationFamiliarity with leach tanks, screens, feeders and millsAutoCAD / InventorThe right person will be Strategic thinker with a hands-on leadership styleExcellent technical reporting and client-facing presentation skillsCoach and mentor to junior technical staffSolid understanding of SHERQ, ISO 9001 and ECSA/EPA requirements
