Your Next Career Move Starts Here! Join Indigo Brands in Epping, Cape Town as a COMMERCIAL ACCOUNTANT and play a key role in ensuring robust financial control and accurate accounting of trade spend, while supporting commercially focused and profitable decision-making. The role partners closely with the Commercial team, providing financial insight and ensuring customer spend, promotions, rebates and other commercial activities remain within agreed budgets and company-mandated limits.               

Reports to: Commercial Manager

Maintenance of Trade Term Agreements

Maintain accurate and up-to-date Trade Term Agreements for all customers. Manage Trade Term Agreements and applicable accrual percentages within SAP. Review and approve Trade Term deductions in line with agreed customer terms. Perform monthly Trade Term accruals and reconciliations, investigating and resolving variances where required.

Incentive Calculations

Calculate quarterly and annual Sales Growth Incentives in accordance with agreed commercial terms. Maintain accurate Growth Incentive accruals and perform monthly reconciliations. Raise accruals for Consultant Commissions Process adjustment journals relating to incentives, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. 

Manage Fixed Trade Spend

Liaise with Key Account Managers (KAMs) to confirm and validate monthly trade spend. Prepare and raise monthly Fixed Trade Spend accruals. Review, assess and process accrual adjustments to ensure trade spend is accurately reflected in the financial records.

Pricing

Update the monthly Master Pricelist following approved Marketing and Finance inputs and communicate changes to relevant internal stakeholders. Maintain Promo Mandates in SAP, ensuring pricing and promotional information is accurately captured and maintained.

Budgets and P&L’s

Load quarterly Sales Budgets into SAP accurately and within agreed timelines. Perform Marketing P&L calculations and provide supporting financial analysis as required.

Relationship Management

Foster strong and collaborative relationships with Commercial teams to facilitate effective communication and financial support. Partner with key stakeholders to ensure trade activity follow-ups, queries and financial matters are addressed accurately and timeously. 

Experience that set you up for success:                       

Minimum 2 - 3 years’ experience working as an Accountant Previous FMCG / Retail / Manufacturing industry experience is an advantage Commercial Finance experience would be an advantage

Grade 12 / Matric BCom Degree in Accounting or related field

Strong working experience on SAP and Excel is required
