The primary duties of a Diesel Mechanic include performing diagnostic tests on diesel vehicles to find faults, analyzing diagnostic test results and repairing or replacing engine, steering, transmission, braking or lighting system components.

Mechanical ability
Running diagnostic tests on vehicles. Analyzing diagnostic test results. Replacing vehicle engines, steering mechanisms, transmissions and braking systems. Checking vehicle lighting systems Performing preventative maintenance on service trucks
Adherence to sound SHERQ principles
Wear the correct PPE Adhere to good housekeeping principles Ensure all SHERQ requirements are met
Grade 12 Code 10 Driver's licence Diesel Mechanic Trade Test Certificate (Red Seal)
3 year's demonstrated experience as a Diesel Mechanic (Truck and LDV). 3 years demonstrated knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance Proven working experience in an Explosives environment.
Proven written and verbal communication skills Knowledge of the production processes Attention to detail Numeric skills Safety / quality conscience Able to take control Ability to use visual acuity as required for depth perception and color perception Knowledge of various measuring devices
