Somerset West, our client, a specialist forensic accounting practice focusing on commercial insurance claims and fraud investigations, is looking to appoint a Forensic Accountant. The successful candidate will lead complex forensic investigations, assess high-value commercial insurance claims, quantify financial losses and prepare clear, evidence based reports for insurers, legal professionals and corporate clients.
Key responsibilitiesInvestigate suspected insurance fraud, financial irregularities and misrepresentationReview complex commercial and business-interruption claimsAnalyse financial statements, bank records, invoices, payroll and stock informationQuantify loss of profit, increased costs, stock losses and other commercial damagesReconstruct incomplete financial records and trace transactionsPrepare detailed forensic and expert reportsPresent findings to insurers, attorneys, loss adjusters and clientsSupport litigation, negotiations and dispute-resolution processesManage assignments and provide guidance to junior team membersRequirements Relevant Accounting, Auditing or Forensic Accounting qualificationApproximately 5 - 10 years' relevant experienceExperience in forensic accounting, commercial insurance claims, investigations, external audit or dispute advisoryStrong financial analysis, Excel and report-writing skillsExperience with business-interruption or loss-of-profit calculationsA CA(SA), AGA(SA), CFE or similar designation will be advantageousHigh levels of integrity, professional scepticism and confidentiality
