Kromco (Pty) Ltd., a prominent entity in the pome fruit sector, is seeking a dedicated Junior Engineer to join their team. This role entails supporting the Factory Engineer in various engineering projects, facility enhancements, data analysis, automated reporting, and ongoing facility enhancement initiatives. The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:

• Assisting the Factory Engineer on a case-by-case basis with projects, capital expenditure (CapEx) endeavors, and facility upgrades. * Taking full responsibility for smaller, individual engineering and continuous improvement projects, progressing from conceptualization to completion. * Maintaining and updating facility layouts, CAD drawings, and technical documentation. * Collaborating closely with technicians and operations teams to resolve day-to-day mechanical and operational issues. * Aiding the Operations Manager in designing, constructing, and maintaining automated reporting tools and dashboards. * Introducing automated data collection systems. * Analyzing operational data to pinpoint inefficiencies, optimize packing processes, and enhance yield.

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience include:

• A degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering. * A minimum of 3 years' experience in a packhouse, food processing, or manufacturing environment. * Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as Advanced Excel, Power BI, Python, or SQL. * Basic proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software for facility layout and design (e.g., AutoCAD). * Possession of a Government Certificate of Competency (GCC – Factories) or a willingness to obtain one. * An excellent analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical aptitude. * A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
