Position Overview Our client, a prominent clearing and forwarding firm, is in search of a seasoned Ocean Import Release Controller to oversee ocean freight import handovers and releases. The successful candidate will be responsible for the following key duties:

1. Supervising ocean import handovers and coordinating cargo releases. 2. Facilitating communication between shipping lines, groupage agents, transporters, and warehouse teams. 3. Ensuring all necessary documents, payments, and release instructions are prepared and executed. 4. Processing cargo dues, verifying invoices, and arranging timely payments. 5. Coordinating customs examinations and inspections as needed. 6. Monitoring shipments and adhering to deadlines to prevent delays and additional expenses. 7. Maintaining precise shipment records, documents, and milestones within CargoWise.

Qualifications To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Current employment in a clearing and forwarding company, with a proven track record of managing ocean import handovers and releases. 2. At least five years of relevant experience in a similar capacity. 3. Familiarity with CargoWise software is advantageous. 4. In-depth knowledge of sea freight import documentation, release procedures, and customs protocols. 5. A high school diploma; a background in freight forwarding or a relevant field is a plus. 6. Exceptional attention to detail and the capacity to manage high-volume tasks under pressure. 7. Willingness to work at the client's premises in Mobeni, Durban.
