Knowledge, Skills, Training And Competencies Required
Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act and Good Pharmacy Practice. Knowledge of pharmaceutical legislation and policies. Understanding of medicine supply management. Knowledge of stock control. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Computer literacy. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Problem-solving and reporting-writing skills.
DUTIES Assist in the provision of an efficient pharmaceutical service under the supervision of a pharmacist. Dispense medicine according to approved Standard Operating Procedures and within the scope of practice of a Pharmacist Assistant (Post Basic) Receive, store, issue and control pharmaceutical stock. Perform stock counts and assist with the inventory management. Pack and distribute medicine to wards, clinics and department. Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records and documentations. Ensure compliance with Good Pharmacy Practice and pharmaceutical legislation. Participate in quality improvement programmes and medicine management initiatives. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy storage areas. Provide medicine information to healthcare professionals and patients within the scope of practice. Perform any other duties delegated by the Pharmacy Manager or supervising pharmacist.
