We’re on the lookout for a Process Controller in Training-Energy to develop into a fully competent Process Controller – Energy, through the successful completion of a structured training and development programme, including the attainment of all required licences, technical competencies and practical operational experience.

As a Process Controller in Training-Energy, you will be responsible for:

Assist with the safe and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, utilities, and associated Energy Plant equipment in accordance with operating procedures. Complete the required training programme, operating manuals, and plant licences to become a competent Process Controller. Conduct routine plant inspections, monitor equipment performance, and report abnormalities or process deviations to the Shift Superintendent. Monitor and control process parameters through the Distributed Control System (DCS) and perform operational adjustments under supervision. Carry out pre-start inspections, start-up, shutdown, isolation, and lock-out procedures in accordance with safety standards. Maintain accurate operational records, complete shift handovers, and report production, quality, and equipment issues. Comply with all SHEQ requirements by promoting safe work practices, maintaining good housekeeping, and participating in safety observations and risk assessments. Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve plant performance, reliability, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance.

What are we looking for?

Matric (Grade 12) with Maths & Physical Science or N3 in Pulp and Paper. A relevant NQF Level 5 qualification or currently studying towards one. National Diploma / Degree in Engineering or related fields will be advantageous. Minimum of 2 years' plant experience within an Energy/Boiler environment. Relevant plant licences - Energy/Boiler plants will be advantageous.
