Core Purpose of the Role 

The core purpose of this position is to accurately inspect vehicles and goods as required within the department. The role involves examining and assessing the mechanical and cosmetic condition of passenger vehicles to determine the costs required for repairs. This information enables clients to recover these costs and supports accurate vehicle valuations. The successful candidate must have a high level of attention to detail and strong customer-service skills. The ability to build good relationships with customers and suppliers while acting professionally is essential.

Requirements / Essential Criteria

Academic Qualifications

Matric Certificate Valid driver’s licence No criminal record

Previous mechanical experience will be advantageous.

Essential Skills & Competencies

Read, write and speak English. Understand traffic rules and regulations. Strong driving skills. Ability to operate and understand relevant measuring equipment. Ability to identify vehicle defects and correctly record faults requiring repair. Ability to correctly interpret technical and cosmetic faults outside the manufacturer’s stipulated specifications. Knowledge of the most efficient routes in and around the Durban area. Good communication skills. Strong customer-centric approach. Self-management skills. Safety and security conscious. Adherence to time constraints. Ability to use technology such as iPads, tablets, PCs and phones. Ability to observe all safety and company rules.

Key Deliverables and Outputs

Conduct the necessary vehicle valuations required by Corporate Clients and Transport Operators. Submit all administration relating to the position timeously. Manage risk by ensuring company assets are properly taken care of. Work flexible hours to accommodate customer requirements and the demands of the job. Work in a service-oriented environment and provide exceptional service. Build and maintain good supplier relationships. Manage yourself effectively. Collect and drop off vehicles as required. Assist with other driver-related duties within the business. Assist with ad-hoc administrative tasks from time to time.
