Primary Objective: To deliver accurate, exclusive, and factual news reports and analyses for News24 and its national audience, focusing on general news within Gauteng and court proceedings from both higher and lower courts in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities: - Generate original fast and slow court reports along with ideas for news, feature, and analysis stories. - Cover breaking news stories from local courtrooms, particularly civil cases. - Conduct interviews and report on general news stories. - Write high-quality news and feature articles, meeting strict deadlines and adhering to News24's style guidelines. - Maintain the quality, style, and content standards specified by the publication. - Provide live reporting into News24 live blogs on unfolding stories. - Secure in-depth interviews with newsmakers on pertinent issues.

Skills & Competencies: - Established network of contacts in local courts, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), and the legal community. - Strong proficiency in the English language. - Solid understanding of the law and judicial processes in South Africa. - Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. - Effective time management, multitasking skills, and the ability to complete tasks punctually. - Sound news judgment. - Familiarity with the online news environment and digital publishing tools, including mobile video and photography. - Detail-oriented with good people skills. - Quality-oriented, capable of delivering clean copy. - Understanding of the SA Press Code and adherence to Media24’s code of ethics.
