Lecturer in Marine Engineering (Ref. M314)
TheĀ Department of Maritime StudiesĀ invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the position of Lecturer in the Seagoing Maritime Programme. This position is ideal for candidates with a strong interest in maritime education, training, and research.
AĀ Masterās degree in Marine EngineeringĀ or a closely related maritime discipline. A minimum of 3 years of teaching and/or industry experience (Seagoing experience relevant to the programmeĀ (Marine Engineering), supported by a valid or previously held Certificate of Competency (at Management Level) issued in terms of STCW).
Additional Information
Evidence of teaching, training, or facilitation in a maritime or higher education environment will be an advantage. Commitment to postgraduate supervision, research, and professional development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lecture and assess modules within theĀ Marine Engineering and Seagoing Maritime ProgrammeĀ in accordance with STCW, SAMSA, and institutional requirements. Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, and programme accreditation processes. Supervise postgraduate students and produce research outputs aligned with departmental goals. Participate in departmental administration, industry engagement, and academic leadership activities. Support simulation-based training and practical components where required.
