Description

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our team in the field of Health Systems and Policy Research. This fellowship is a two-year fixed-term contract, contingent on annual performance reviews. The tax-free stipend for this fellowship is R300,000 per annum.

Requirements

Applicants must

• Possess a PhD in Public Health, Health Systems, Health Policy, Epidemiology, Health Promotion, Health Services Research, Implementation Science, or a related field. - Have earned their doctoral degree within the last five (5) years. - Exhibit a robust publication record commensurate with their career stage. - Provide evidence of conducting independent research projects. - Demonstrate proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research methods. - Show familiarity with methodologies used in health systems research. - Have experience in scientific writing and publishing. - Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Be willing to relocate to the University of Limpopo and actively engage in research activities. - Be capable of working both independently and as part of multidisciplinary research teams. - Preference will be given to candidates with experience in grant writing, implementation research, policy analysis, mixed-methods research, or program evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful fellow will be tasked with

• Conducting cutting-edge research in Health Systems and Policy Research. - Developing an independent yet complementary research program that aligns with the host's research agenda. - Publishing high-quality research in reputable international peer-reviewed journals. - Presenting research findings at national and international conferences. - Preparing policy briefs, technical reports, and knowledge translation materials. - Participating in the development of competitive national and international research grant applications. - Contributing to the supervision and mentorship of Master's and PhD students. - Attending departmental seminars, workshops, and research capacity-building activities. - Collaborating with local and international research partners. - Engaging in community-engaged and implementation research focused on African health priorities. - Supporting innovation and knowledge translation efforts to strengthen health systems and influence policy.

Expected Outputs

During the fellowship, the successful candidate will be expected to deliver:

• At least four accredited journal publications over the two-year fellowship. - Several presentations at national and international scientific meetings. - At least one competitive external research grant application. - Policy briefs supporting evidence-informed health policy. - Research reports for government and other stakeholders. - Contributions to postgraduate student supervision and capacity development. - Collaborative publications with the host supervisor and research team. - Participation in multidisciplinary research projects within the Faculty and University.
