Minimum Requirements
To be considered, applicants must fulfill the following prerequisites:
A doctoral degree in an applicable field. Extensive experience in teaching, coupled with a robust research and scholarly portfolio. Proven expertise in higher education practices, policies, and strategic leadership. A commendable record of academic leadership and scholarly accomplishments, including a notable publication history and proven success in teaching and learning. At least 10 years of relevant managerial experience in higher education institutions. Eligibility for NRF rating and recognition as a nationally or internationally esteemed researcher.

Key Performance Areas
The Executive Dean is expected to
Deliver strategic leadership for the faculty, ensuring alignment with the University’s strategic plan. Manage the delivery and continuous enhancement of the faculty’s academic programmes, including online and blended learning methodologies. Promote excellence in teaching, learning, research, and innovation within the faculty. Lead the faculty’s research agenda, encourage innovation, and secure funding to support these priorities. Ensure effective governance, administration, and risk management across the faculty’s academic and operational activities. Handle enrolment planning and the student lifecycle while ensuring compliance with accreditation requirements. Forge partnerships with professional societies, government, industry, and international academic peers. Promote the faculty’s reputation and engagement with the broader community. Recruit, develop, and retain top-tier academic and support staff.
