Job Requirements
The following qualifications and experiences are required for each academic rank
Professor: A Masters degree in a relevant field, coupled with an accounting professional certification (e.g., CA (SA), ACCA, CIMA), OR a Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline. Candidates must possess ten years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or seven years of relevant professional experience. Additionally, applicants should have published at least 15 articles in accredited journals and have demonstrated supervision of 4 Masters/Doctoral students to successful completion.
Associate Professor: A Masters degree in a relevant field, coupled with an accounting professional certification (e.g., CA (SA), ACCA, CIMA), OR a Doctoral degree in a relevant discipline. Candidates must have ten years of teaching experience at a tertiary institution or seven years of relevant professional experience. Additionally, applicants should have published at least 10 articles in accredited journals and have demonstrated supervision of 4 Masters/Doctoral students to successful completion.
Senior Lecturer: A Masters degree or an Honours degree in a relevant field, coupled with an accounting professional certification (e.g., CA (SA), ACCA, CIMA). Candidates must have five years of relevant academic or professional experience. Additionally, applicants should have published at least 5 articles in accredited journals.
Duties: The selected candidate will be expected to teach, conduct research, and supervise Honours/Masters/Doctoral projects within the Department of Accountancy at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This includes delivering lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions, and assisting students with academic inquiries. Candidates will ensure that the modules taught meet the required academic and other standards by compiling lecture notes, study guides, and practical manuals for approval and keeping the curriculum current. Furthermore, the candidate will enhance knowledge and skills in their field to benefit students and staff by engaging in research projects, proposing and conducting their own research, attending conferences and symposia, publishing and presenting papers, and developing links with other academics both locally and internationally. Participation in the University’s community development program is also expected, including preparing project proposals and leading/conducting approved projects. The successful candidate will also contribute to the departmental administration by assisting with student registration, selection, preparing and submitting budgets relevant to their field.
