BRIEF DESCRIPTION:-
A Medical Biological Scientist / Clinical Technologist is sought to perform tasks in an Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) laboratory, including semen analysis, sperm processing, and embryo culture. The role requires a strong understanding of ART laboratory procedures and a relevant qualification, such as a Bachelor of Science Honours or a Bachelor of Technology in Reproductive Biology. The ideal candidate will have registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa and relevant experience, depending on the grade level.

**About the Role:**
We are seeking highly skilled Medical Biological Scientists / Clinical Technologists to join our team. As a key player in our Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) laboratory, you will be responsible for performing a range of tasks, including semen analysis, sperm processing, embryo culture, and micromanipulation. Your expertise will also be used to train interns and assist in the upkeep of our databases.
**Requirements:**
To be considered for this role, you will need to possess a Senior/National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) certificate and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) Honours in a relevant field, such as Reproductive Biology, Physiology, or Cell Biology. Alternatively, you may hold a Bachelor of Technology (Btech) in Reproductive Biology or an equivalent qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Independent Practice Medical Biological Scientist or Clinical Technologist.
In addition, you will need to provide proof of registration with the HPCSA as an Independent Practice Medical Biological Scientist or Clinical Technologist, as well as proof of current registration from 01 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. You should also have a strong understanding of basic theoretical and practical aspects of ART laboratory procedures, including semen processing, embryo culture, micromanipulation, and cryopreservation techniques.
**Experience Requirements:**
The level of experience required for this role will depend on your grade level
- **Medical Biological Scientist / Clinical Technologist Grade 1:** No experience is required after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession, provided you have completed community service as required in South Africa. * **Medical Biological Scientist / Clinical Technologist Grade 2:** A minimum of 10 years of recognizable experience after registration with the HPCSA in the relevant profession is required, also taking into account community service completed in South Africa. * **Medical Biological Scientist / Clinical Technologist Grade 3:** A minimum of 20 years of recognizable experience after registration as a Medical Biological Scientist with the HPCSA in the relevant profession is required, also considering community service completed in South Africa.
**Responsibilities:**
As a Medical Biological Scientist / Clinical Technologist, you will be expected to:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of human Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART), including Embryology and Andrology. * Participate in procedures such as semen analysis, sperm processing, and decontamination, human embryo culture, and micromanipulation. * Use databases effectively, including SARA/ANARA, and maintain accurate records. * Assist in the practical and theoretical training of Assisted Reproduction interns, as per HPCSA regulations. * Meet milestone targets and demonstrate effective time management and multi-tasking skills.
