**Requirements:**

We seek a highly qualified Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology to join our team. Essential qualifications include registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, along with proof of current registration. While prior experience is not mandatory after registration, subspecialist experience would be an advantageous addition to your profile.

**Key Responsibilities:**

As a Medical Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening obstetrics and gynaecological health services within our institution. This will involve participating in clinical governance structures at various levels, including the department, institution, cluster, and province, with a focus on promoting clinical effectiveness across all facilities.

Your responsibilities will also encompass supporting cluster hospitals in all aspects of service delivery related to obstetrics and gynaecology, as well as providing secondary support to clinics, community health centres, and primary healthcare outreach teams. You will engage with private sector obstetricians and gynaecologists on matters related to service delivery. Furthermore, you will facilitate and participate in the training, development, and mentorship of under- and postgraduate students, including supporting the Head of Department in providing leadership and participation in teaching and research supervision.

You will collaborate with public health and district clinical specialist teams to establish and maintain systems, including surveillance, health information, communication, and referral guidelines and processes, to support the delivery of obstetrics and gynaecological services. Additionally, you will initiate, support, and participate in clinical audit and quality improvement cycles with a specific focus on obstetrics and gynaecology, implementing effective monitoring and evaluation processes.

Your duties will also involve effective use of data and reporting on outputs and health outcomes. You may be required to initiate, support, or participate in relevant research. Effective teamwork and collaboration within the cluster, district clinical specialist team, and university will be essential to your success. You will facilitate and support engagement with the local community, relevant non-government organizations, and private providers.

To ensure seamless communication, you will facilitate and ensure effective communication with all management structures within the hospital, district, cluster, and province, providing regular reports on activities and initiatives to save mothers, babies, and children. You will also assist with the strategic and operational planning of services in the hospital, cluster, and province, coordinating and supervising obstetrics and gynaecological services within the cluster, and managing relevant human resources.

**Additional Responsibilities:**

You will assist with recruitment processes in the department, academic circuit, and cluster, as well as perform any other duties as requested by the department.
