To lead in conducting teaching and research, contact and online mode, where appropriate. Interacting with the community in order to work towards the fulfilment of mission of the University of Johannesburg.
Lecture, coordinate, assess, and tutor large postgraduate classes across departmental/service modules. Contribute to effective curriculum delivery and student academic support.
Conduct active research and publish in peer-reviewed outlets in fields aligned with the department's existing research strengths and priorities.
Participate in and contribute to departmental outreach initiatives and community engagement programmes. Undertake administrative responsibilities as determined by the Head of Department, including (but not limited to) marketing of departmental programmes, preparation for SACaSP and SACPCMP accreditation processes, compilation of teaching portfolios/files, and related academic administration tasks.
Minimum requirements
A Doctoral Qualification A recognised Doctoral degree related to 4IR. Demonstrated strong and sustained record of accredited scholarly research outputs (8-10 years), with proven national stature in the discipline and expert discipline-specific knowledge. Ten (10) to (15) years' proven record of excellence and innovation in teaching, learning, and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including the ability to deliver postgraduate programmes in online learning environments. Extensive experience eight (8) to ten (10) years’ supervising Masters and Doctoral candidates, including proven experience supervising online Master's students (3-5 years). Three (3) to five (5) years' proven experience in academic quality assurance, curriculum development, and curriculum revision at university level. Extensive (±15 years) experience applying disciplinary knowledge in community engagement, capacity-building initiatives, and policy-related interventions. Proven experience (±15 years) participating in the management of departmental academic and administrative functions within a university environment. Established national stature in the discipline with a strong record of academic leadership and contribution to the field.
Professional registration with the professional body. Research specialization that articulates well with the existing interest of the department. Evidence of research outputs and proven track record of postgraduate supervision at Master's and Doctoral level.
Technology savvy and ability to work with AutoCAD, DimX, MS Project, WinQS (MS Office (MS Word and Excel) software packages. Sharp and robust high level of communication skills. Sound knowledge in built environment legislative and policy frameworks. Self-motivated with leadership skills, interpersonal relations, and effective organizational skills. Demonstrate sound work ethics, punctuality, and integrity. Good academic and administrative skills. Excellent presentation skills. A high level of proficiency in spoken and written English. Good interpersonal skills that contribute to a collegial atmosphere. The ability to work independently and collaboratively. A flexible and versatile team player who will work and excel in any environment. Highly organised and efficient with excellent follow-through abilities. Attention to detail. Reliability and integrity. Good listening skills. Practice patience. Good people management and time management. Ability to work under pressure in a complex environment
