Position Overview

West Coast Personnel is now seeking a diligent Trainee Machine Operator for a permanent position in our manufacturing and warehousing sectors. This opportunity allows candidates to gain practical experience and hone their machining and production capabilities.

Position Requirements

We are looking for an entry-level Trainee Machine Operator with prior exposure to manufacturing, engineering, or industrial production. Candidates should possess a keen interest in machinery and be enthusiastic about learning and improving their skills. This role offers the chance to advance to an Assistant Machine Operator as abilities and competencies develop.

Key Duties

• Assist with the setup of machines and the loading and unloading of workpieces. - Prepare the necessary tooling, materials, and components for production. - Safely and accurately learn to operate manufacturing machinery. - Adhere to job cards, drawings, and production instructions. - Utilize precision measuring equipment to ensure adherence to specified dimensions and tolerances. - Conduct self-checks and report any defects or quality concerns. - Perform basic machine inspections, cleaning, and preventive maintenance. - Support material preparation, stock handling, packing, and production flow. - Assist across various production departments as skills progress.

Essential Qualifications

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or industrial production setting is essential. - A genuine interest in machinery, machining, and manufacturing is required. - Strong practical and mechanical aptitude. - Basic numeracy skills and accuracy in work. - Excellent attention to detail and a willingness to learn. - A reliable and responsible work ethic. - Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and take responsibility for personal work. - Hands-on exposure to machinery, machining processes, or engineering tools. - Familiarity with precision measuring equipment.
