Duties/PligteĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
Performing research in die field of advanced manufacturing processes, machine design and / or mechanics. Teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the areas of manufacturing processes, machine design and / or mechanics.
Job Requirements/Pos VereistesĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
For Associate ProfessorA relevant doctoral degree plus at least five years' applicable practical, teaching and/or research experience. An ECSA accredited BEng or BSc(Eng) degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering, or an equivalent qualification recognised by ECSA for registration as professionalĀ engineer. Registration as a Professional Engineer by ECSA. Proven academic and/or industry related management skills at senior level. A strong, applicable research record, including successful postgraduate supervision and publication record, or strong industry Research and Development record. Sound communication and teaching skills. Proficient in English with the ability to function effectively in a multi-lingual environment. Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
For Senior LecturerA relevant doctoral degree, plus at least three years' applicable practical, teaching and/or research experience, or an applicable master's degree in engineering with at least eightĀ years' applicable technical or management experience in industry. An ECSA accredited BEng or BSc(Eng) degree in Mechanical or Mechatronic Engineering or an equivalent qualification recognised by ECSA for registration as professional engineer. Sound communication and teaching skills. Proficient in English with the ability to function effectively in a multi-lingual environment.
Recommendation/AanbevelingĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā
A proven record of experience as engineer in heavy industry (for example foundry, steel production, automotive component manufacturing) with a background in strengths of materialsĀ and machine design. An established research record in the field of advanced manufacturing processes, machine design and / or mechanics and fundraising in these areas. Evaluation by the NRF as a rated researcher.
For Senior LecturerRegistration as a Professional Engineer by ECSA. Proven academic and/or industry related management skills at senior level. A strong, applicable research record, including successful postgraduate supervision and publication record, or strong industry Research and Development record.
