Job Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is looking for a skilled Temporary Checkout Attendant for our Cape Road store in Gqeberha. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering top-notch customer service at the point of sale while ensuring an exceptional shopping experience. You will be expected to accurately record customer transactions in the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering strictly to company policies and standard operating procedures to prevent any inaccuracies or fraud.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education: - Grade 12 / Matric

Experience: - Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations - Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office

Skills: - Strong numerical skills - Excellent command of the English language - Basic customer service skills - Willingness and ability to work in retail hours

Job Responsibilities

• Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures - Build professional relationships with customers - Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Adhere to the customer turnover hourly rate - Stay updated on current sales and promotions - Ensure no risk is posed to colleagues and customers - Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow effectively - Approve line voids and price changes as per the supervisor’s guidelines - Exchange merchandise and accept returned goods when authorized - Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.) - Manage loyalty card transactions for partner programs (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, eBucks) - Place cash in drop safe as per Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Maintain the security and confidentiality of your code and password - Ensure all outgoing stock/items/scripts are scanned and paid for - Securely store all money in the till - Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management - Report suspicious behavior to management - Address store merchandise queries - Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
