Role Purpose: To enhance customer service at the checkout counter, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience. Accurately record customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering strictly to company policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for errors and fraud prevention.

Essential Requirements

Grade 12 / Matric Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier or till operations Proficient with MS Office Strong numerical skills Fluent in English Basic customer service skills Ability to work flexible retail hours

Job Description

Maintain adherence to Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures Build professional relationships with customers Report customer feedback to the Frontline Supervisor or store management Comply with hourly customer turnover rate guidelines Stay informed about current sales and promotions Ensure safety for colleagues and customers Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles Manage cash flow responsibly Ensure all voids and price changes are approved by a supervisor Handle merchandise exchanges and accept returns as authorized Process all forms of payments accepted by Dis-Chem Manage loyalty card transactions, including those from partners like Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks Secure cash in drop safes following Dis-Chem’s SOPs Restrict personal code and password usage to yourself, ensuring safety and regular changes Scan and process all outgoing stock/items/scripts Safeguard all cash securely in the till Confidentially handle daily takings and discuss only with management Recognize and report suspicious behavior to management Assist with store merchandise inquiries Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
