When applying, please submit a PDF version of your CV together with certified copies (certification within a 3-month period) of your ID, Drivers and qualifications.  Section Rock Engineer, D4Seriti, Klipspruit New Largo, Mpumalanga Internal & External  Ref no: KNL092/26GS Closing date: 12 October 2026 The role:Responsible for putting measures in place for the prevention of falls of ground on the operations in area of responsibility through providing effective input into Rock Engineering designs as well as support systems and layouts for the operations. Responsibilities will include but not limited to:Ensures effective Rock Engineering service delivery and support to the Mining Operations, Mine Planning, Survey, and Geology sectionsEnsure adherence to organisational best practice and legislative requirementsActively participate in creating a safe mining environmentMaintain effective stakeholder relationshipsEnsure successful teamwork and supervision of Rock Engineering resourcesContinuous improvement of the Rock Engineering functionDevelop quality controls to ensure alignment of operational Rock Engineering interventions, systems, and processes with standardization requirements as well as policies, procedures, and operating standardsAnalyse and interpret Rock Engineering data and information to identify changes in the production environment, defects and safety risksConduct regular inspections and ensure problems are addressed proactively and aligned with Rock Engineering requirementsEnsure that operating standards, policies, and procedures are appropriate and clearly understoodEnsure that all activities are performed in line with the Mine Health and Safety Act, and the Minerals ActProvide coaching and advice to operational stakeholders related to strata control services and support aligned to best practicesProvide input into the development of safety standards, processes, policies, and proceduresProvides guidance to Senior Leadership on technical risk management and relevant mitigating actionsSupport the Life of Mine Plan process where applicableDevelop and maintain the technology roadmap for rock engineeringIndustry contribution, monitoring and liaison in terms of Strata Control function and statutory requirements, through but not limited to, Mine Professional Associations, ECSA, and Chamber of Mines Requirements:BSc Degree / Diploma in Mining Engineering or a related science fieldChamber of Mines Certificate in Rock MechanicsSANIRE Membership5 yearsâ experience in Rock Engineering within the Coal mining industryExperience in Quality Control and Auditing of Rock Engineering systems and servicesIn-depth understanding of relevant safety and mining legislation including: The Mine Health and Safety Act and the Minerals and Energy Act. Good knowledge of Seriti Safety and Sustainable development policies, procedures and standardsGood understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to the Mining Industry including the Mine Health Act.
