Position Overview Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited seeks a proficient Buyer for their Gqeberha Distribution Centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate receipt and packing of stock, aligning with Dis-Chem's Standard Operating Procedures and customer demands within the store.


Essential Requirements: - Matric or Senior Certificate with Mathematics - Tertiary Qualification in Supply Chain or a related field - Minimum 2 years' experience as a Buyer - Advantageous: 3+ years related experience in Customer Service, Planning, and Business Analysis within the Retail Industry


Key Responsibilities: - Replenish orders into the Distribution Centre based on allocated portfolio - Process orders according to the ordering schedule - Monitor weekly stock holdings in the Distribution Centre/ supplier deliveries and maintain required day of supply - Maintain daily stock cover in line with group or buyer requirements - Oversee inventory and suggest transfers to prevent overstock issues and balance network inventory - Analyze consumer buying patterns to predict future trends and choose profitable product ranges - Regularly review performance indicators, such as sales and discount levels, and act accordingly - Ensure stock turn, sell-through, and stock on hand are within required ranges - Review and track sales performance figures and competitor activities - Manage plans to ensure optimal stock levels for the business at all times - Conduct research on product ranges before deciding on merchandise - Review dormant stock and day stock cover (DSC) by extracting sales reports - Ensure pre-determined targets are achieved and review monthly sales - Ensure stock turn, sell-through, and stock on hand are within required ranges - Attend to supplier queries relating to stock, pricing, returns, transfers, and new vendor applications - Accurately list, load, and approve new Stock Keeping Units and confirm commercials as per standard operating procedures - Review trade terms on an ongoing basis - Assist in ensuring marketing plans align with the overall company strategy - Ensure pharmacies can increase their stock levels during advertising campaigns - Accurately analyze target audiences to determine effective marketing offers - Ensure correct Positill pricing is maintained - Manage product information and updates on internal systems and communicate master data updates effectively to Positill master data - Conduct price reductions by extracting invoices from Positill to relate to stock-on-hand and communicate to relevant stakeholders for credit claims - Assist with the management of sallies, tallies, vendor, and article master data files - Assist Buyers with customer contract management, track trade terms, deals, and accruals - Manage DC short-dated stock and ensure product catalogues are up to date - Assist Senior Buyer to create broadsheets - Collaborate with Key Account Managers (KAM) to effectively manage supplier relationships, ensuring regular communication - Liaise with Distribution Centre and inventory control to write off stock due to returns policies or return to vendor (RTV) - Communicate stock-related issues, pricing, claims/returns to relevant stakeholders - Communicate and coordinate between marketing, sales, customer service, and operations during shortfalls - Collaborate with category/stakeholders to ensure successful marketing activation - Effectively communicate internal developments with suppliers - Adhere to Dis-Chem Policies and Standard Operating Procedures - Adhere to Health and Safety rules and regulations


Competencies: - Essential: Knowledge of implementation of policies and procedures - Ability to find solutions to potential issues and know when to escalate the problem - Ability to convey ideas and facts verbally using language - Promptly address customer questions - Recognize the need for procedures and follow relevant procedures - Maintain confidentiality and meet own commitments - Adhere to organizational policies and procedures - Take personal responsibility for the quality and timeliness of work and achieve results with little oversight
