In the heart of Johannesburg's East Rand, a prominent precious metals refining organization seeks a seasoned Senior Buyer – Capital Projects with a robust background in CAPEX procurement and technical purchasing. This 12-month fixed-term position demands expertise in cost-effective sourcing and purchasing, while ensuring procurement governance, compliance, and service levels.


Responsibilities: - Process CAPEX purchase requisitions and purchase orders in adherence to established procurement policies and procedures. - Validate pricing, quotations, commercial terms, and contract conditions prior to issuing purchase orders. - Ensure procurement transactions are executed accurately and within set service levels. - Resolve purchasing, supplier, invoice, and creditor queries in a timely manner. - Support commercial evaluation processes and sourcing activities. - Identify opportunities for cost savings and avoidance through supplier negotiations. - Coordinate and facilitate RFQ processes for capital projects. - Serve as the initial point of contact for CAPEX sourcing requests. - Ensure purchase orders are issued in accordance with approved contract terms and conditions. - Monitor outstanding purchase orders and expedite deliveries. - Provide regular updates to Project Managers and end users concerning order status and delivery timelines.


Requirements: - Matric qualification completed. - NQF Level 5 qualification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement. - Minimum 3-5 years' experience in a CAPEX purchasing environment. - At least 2 years' experience in a technical purchasing environment. - Sound understanding of Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes. - Knowledge of CAPEX purchasing processes and cost drivers. - Technical purchasing knowledge related to capital projects. - Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Email, and Word. - Experience with SAP. - Strong analytical, planning, and organizing skills. - Ability to identify and solve problems. - Strong procurement and supplier management skills. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment. - Commercial and contract management skills. - Strong negotiation and cost-saving capabilities. - Vendor management and relationship-building skills. - RFQ coordination and sourcing skills. - Knowledge of procurement governance, policies, and compliance requirements.
