Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a skilled Cashier for their Hemmingways store located in KuGompo City (East London). The ideal candidate will deliver exceptional customer service at the point of sale while upholding a superior shopping experience. The role entails recording all customer transactions on the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering strictly to company policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risk.

Essential: Grade 12 / Matric A minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations Computer literate – MS Office Strong numerical skills Proficient in the English language Basic customer service skills Willingness and ability to work retail hours

Job Description

• Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures - Build and maintain professional relationships with customers - Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Adhere to the customer turnover hourly rate - Stay informed about current sales and promotions - Ensure that colleagues and customers are not exposed to any risk - Implement Dis-Chem 5 star communication principles - Manage cash flow responsibly - Ensure all line voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor - Exchange merchandise and accept returned goods when authorized - Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, other forms of payment) accepted by Dis-Chem - Handle loyalty cards including those of our accelerator partners (Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards and eBucks) - Place cash in drop safe according to Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Ensure your code and password are secure and changed regularly - Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts - Securely store all money in the till - Handle daily takings confidentially, discussing only with management - Be alert and report suspicious behavior to management - Address queries regarding store merchandise - Adhere to Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
