Role Overview: The role involves providing exemplary customer service at the point of sale while ensuring an exceptional shopping experience. The individual must accurately record customer transactions using the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering strictly to company policies and standard operating procedures, with zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud prevention.

Qualifications and Requirements: Essential: Grade 12 / Matric Minimum of 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations Proficiency in MS Office Strong numerical skills Excellent command of the English language Basic customer service skills Willingness to work flexible retail hours

Job Description: - Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures - Establish a professional rapport with customers - Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Adhere to the hourly customer turnover rate - Stay informed about current sales and promotions - Ensure safety for both colleagues and customers - Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow responsibly - Ensure all voids and price changes are approved and signed off by the supervisor - Exchange merchandise and accept returns when authorized - Process all forms of payments accepted by Dis-Chem - Handle loyalty cards, including those from partners such as Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks - Place cash in the drop safe following Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Restrict usage of your code and password, ensuring safe and regular changes - Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts - Keep all money securely inside the till - Handle daily takings confidentially and discuss only with management - Report suspicious behavior to management - Address queries regarding store merchandise - Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
