The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale while ensuring a premium shopping experience. Accurately record all customer transactions within the Dis-Chem operating system, adhering to company policies and standard operating procedures to maintain zero tolerance for inaccuracies and fraud risks.
Essential Qualifications: - Grade 12 / Matric - Minimum 6 months’ experience in cashier/till operations - Proficient in MS Office - Strong numerical skills - Excellent command of the English language - Basic customer service experience - Willingness to work flexible retail hours
Job Responsibilities: - Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures - Establish professional customer relationships - Report complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Comply with hourly customer turnover rates - Stay informed about current sales and promotions - Ensure risk-free environments for colleagues and customers - Implement Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow responsibly - Approve and sign off all line voids and price changes with the supervisor - Exchange merchandise and process returned goods when authorized - Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.) - Handle loyalty cards from partners like Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks - Securely store cash in drop safes according to Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Maintain strict confidentiality regarding daily takings and only discuss with management - Report any suspicious behavior to management - Address store merchandise queries - Comply with Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
