The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service at the point of sale, ensuring an outstanding shopping experience for customers. Accurately process customer transactions on the Dis-Chem system in compliance with company policies and standard operating procedures, with a strict focus on accuracy and fraud prevention.
Essential Requirements: - Grade 12 / Matric - Minimum of 6 months of cashier/till operation experience - Proficiency in MS Office - Excellent numerical skills - Strong command of the English language - Basic customer service skills - Willingness to work flexible retail hours
Job Responsibilities: - Follow Dis-Chem’s customer service policies and procedures - Build professional relationships with customers - Report customer complaints and compliments to the Frontline Supervisor or store management - Maintain awareness of current sales and promotions - Ensure colleagues and customers are safeguarded from any risk - Execute and uphold Dis-Chem’s 5-star communication principles - Manage cash flow responsibly - Approve and sign off all line voids and price changes with the supervisor - Exchange merchandise and accept returned goods when authorized - Process all payments (cash, bank cards, vouchers, coupons, etc.) accepted by Dis-Chem - Handle loyalty cards, including those from partners such as Discovery Health Care, Medihelp Lifestage, Momentum Multiply, Legacy Lifestyle, ABSA Rewards, and eBucks - Securely store cash in the drop safe following Dis-Chem’s SOPs - Ensure personal code and password are secure and changed regularly - Scan and pay for all outgoing stock/items/scripts - Safely and securely keep all money inside the till - Handle daily takings confidentially and only discuss with management - Report suspicious behavior to management - Address queries about store merchandise - Follow Dis-Chem’s security policies and procedures
