Job Description
- Restock merchandise to maximize sales - Ensure delivered stock or stock pulled from the storeroom is correctly stored and packed in a timely manner - Verify that stock on shelves has not reached the sell-by date - Guarantee the full range of products is always available on the shelves - Facilitate regular stock rotation following FIFO principles - Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management - Assist with counting stock files and general stocktaking - Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms - Flatten boxes after unpacking stock and place them in the designated area - Present front shop shelves and products neatly, with correct labels and pricing - Report all price discrepancies to management - Stay updated on current and new products - Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays - Maintain daily physical upkeep of the store and merchandise displays, and manage designated stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor - Assist with loading and off-loading of stock - Clearly mark items without barcodes - Help with back shopping - Train new staff - Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers - Follow up on all out-of-stock queries from customers - Resolve all customer stock queries - Always wear the correct uniform and badge - Minimize losses by handling all merchandise carefully - Follow Dis-Chem policies and procedures, SOPs, and health and safety rules and regulations
Competencies
Essential: - Strong command of the English language - Presentable - Effective engagement with customers, management, and staff - Trustworthy and honest - Good time management
Advantageous: - Bilingual - Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry - Product and category knowledge - Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking - Report bad or suspicious behavior relating to both staff and customers
