The Main Purpose of the Job The successful candidate will be tasked with overseeing all food service-related activities, encompassing the management of the kitchen's day-to-day operations, the execution of the production process, the oversight of food and labor expenses, and a comprehensive grasp of HACCP standards.

Education and Experience An advanced degree in food and beverage services or culinary arts is mandatory. A minimum of three years of progressive experience in kitchen management is essential. Familiarity with budgetary constraints to achieve results is required. Experience in high-volume, intricate foodservice operations is advantageous. Prior hospital experience is preferred. Profound knowledge of HSE guidelines is beneficial. Expertise in catering various dietary needs is mandatory.

Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies A profound understanding of the catering sector, from fine dining to restaurant environments, is necessary. Familiarity with South African laws and industry-specific regulations is required. Excellent customer service skills, coupled with management skills, are essential. Strong communication skills and exceptional organizational abilities are required. The ability to manage budgets effectively and minimize soft costs is crucial. Proficiency in computer use and HSE knowledge are also prerequisites.
