We are currently seeking a talented Control Systems Engineer to join our established engineering firm’s innovative team. This company specializes in electrical design and industrial automation solutions, and they are seeking an experienced professional to bolster their control systems department.
Duties & Responsibilities: - Develop, configure, and test PLC control software for industrial automation projects - Design and develop SCADA and HMI applications, including graphics, alarming, trending, and reporting - Integrate control systems with instrumentation, drives, field devices, and databases using industrial communication protocols - Interpret process descriptions and functional specifications, translating them into control system software - Prepare and execute factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing - Participate in installation, commissioning, optimization, and handover of control systems on client sites - Diagnose and resolve control system faults, performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective solutions - Compile functional design specifications, software documentation, and as-built records - Provide technical support to clients during and after commissioning - Collaborate with the electrical design team to align software scope with hardware and panel design - Ensure all work complies with company quality systems, safety standards, and applicable engineering standards
Requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Instrumentation, or a related field - ECSA registration as a Candidate Engineer or Candidate Engineering Technologist (advantageous) - Minimum of 3 to 8 years of hands-on PLC and SCADA software development experience - Programming experience on Siemens (TIA Portal or Step 7), Allen-Bradley, or Schneider platforms - SCADA and HMI development experience on platforms such as AVEVA, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, or comparable systems - Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols, including Profibus, Profinet, and Modbus - Instrumentation and process control exposure - Proven commissioning and fault-finding experience in a live plant environment - Exposure to industrial plant, mining, water, or process environments (advantageous) - Strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and client-facing communication skills
Location: Pretoria-based position with travel to project sites as required.
