JOB SUMMARY The role of a CSSD Packer involves the efficient and professional preparation of medications for patients, wards, and theatre. The individual will work under the guidance of a registered Pharmacist, focusing on prescription preparation, medication selection, compounding, and accurate labeling before dispensing.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Qualifications: - NQF Level 4 Certification - Completion of CSSD CPD Course
Minimum Experience: - 1-2 years of hospital experience
Key Competencies: - Proficiency in computer literacy
DELIVERABLES
- Adherence to infection prevention standard operating procedures. - Maintenance of a tidy, clean, and uncluttered workspace for optimal task completion. - Daily testing of the autoclave as a quality control measure to ensure effective sterilization of equipment and to prevent contingencies in theatre. - Escalation of any autoclave issues to the Line Manager or Unit Manager for maintenance and resolution. - Cleaning and sterilization of all equipment and materials in accordance with standard operating procedures and health and safety requirements. - Continuous re-sterilization of equipment and materials as required. - Accurate preparation of cleaning solutions for daily instrument cleaning and disinfection, as per manufacturing criteria. - Hygienic and sterile packaging and sealing of theatre equipment or prosthesis in line with standard operating procedures. - Verification that the sterilization indicator is present on every pack and that all packs are correctly marked.
