Dis-Chem Pharmacies is currently seeking a Pharmacist for our Waterfall Store in Gauteng. The role entails dispensing medications, offering pharmaceutical expertise to patients and healthcare professionals, and ensuring the safe and effective use of prescription medications.
Essential: Grade 12 / Matric BPharm / equivalent qualification Registered with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) Minimum 2-3 years' experience in Pharmaceuticals 2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience Computer literate ā MS Office
Advantageous: Relevant retail/ FMCG experience Third additional language SAP experience E-scripting experience Registered tutor Unisolv experience
Duties and Responsibilities
Dispensing of Medication: Dispensing medications under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist. Accurately interpret scripts and act professionally and responsibly, adhering to legal requirements as per the South African Pharmaceutical Council. Capture script details precisely and verify patientās details on the system. Ensure accurate picking / packing / labeling and checking of medication, while being aware of common dosages and important drug interactions. Provide accurate instructions to patients regarding the correct use of supplied medicines. Stay updated on changes in medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing.
Customer Service: Advise and assist patients at the dispensary, self-medication counter, and front-shop. Follow up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager and follow up appointments. Explain all medical aid costs to patients.
Administration: Process all necessary paperwork for the accurate submission of claims to medical aids. Correct errors on scripts rejected by medical aid. Ensure authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication. Maintain customer profiles on the system. Merge profiles locally and notify Vexall to merge profiles centrally. Take note of any messages on the customer profile and take suitable action.
Stock Control: Report low/out of stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager. Facilitate bi-annual stock takes. Exercise stock, cash, and asset control.
Comprehensive medicine knowledge including common dosing regimes, interactions, and counseling to ensure appropriate and effective treatment outcomes. Understanding of retail as it pertains to pharmacy. Ability to think critically. Excellent communication skills to guide patients on medication usage and side effects. English and 2nd language ā read, write, and speak. Finds solutions to potential issues and knows when to escalate problems and to what level. Acts as a role model to others and discusses the need for high standards and quality. Demonstrates drive to ensure that quality is not compromised. Time management. Able to meet deadlines. Demonstrates patience and the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Computer, numerical skills. Unisolv and SAP, E-Scripting
