Purpose: We are seeking a Project Development Technologist to join our development team, driving innovation and new product development for key customers in both local and international markets. This role spans various grocery categories, including wet condiments, sauces, and Special Buy developments. You will play a pivotal role in developing groundbreaking product concepts and recipes, managing projects from concept to launch.
Key Functional Duties: - Assist in creating innovative and commercially viable product concepts and recipes across multiple grocery categories. - Support the formulation, optimization, and costing of recipes. - Take ownership of projects from concept development through to successful launch. - Develop and manage project plans, timelines, critical path analyses, and key deliverables. - Coordinate cross-functional activities, ensuring all stakeholders are aligned throughout the project. - Collaborate with other Libstar business units, suppliers, and manufacturing partners to support product development and project delivery. - Manage artwork from initial brief to approval, making necessary adaptations for customers and international markets. - Coordinate customer, regulatory, and compliance requirements to ensure artwork and products meet market needs. - Create and maintain product specifications, Bills of Materials, and supporting technical documentation. - Support packaging development, factory trials, travel tests, and initial production runs. - Identify project risks and delays, taking corrective actions to keep projects on track.
Education and Required Knowledge: - Degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Food Science, or Consumer Science. - 2 – 5 years’ experience in product development within the FMCG or food manufacturing industry. - Experience with grocery products, sauces, condiments, or other food categories is advantageous. - Project management experience is advantageous. - Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong communication skills.
