The Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a highly capable individual to fill the role of Dispensary Manager for their East London location. This role involves managing and overseeing the dispensary, including self-medication services and staff supervision, ensuring pharmaceutical care for patients and upholding compliance with regulations.
Essential Qualifications: - Grade 12 / Matric - BPharm / equivalent qualification - Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC) - Registered tutor - Unisolv experience - Experience in staff supervision - Proficiency in computer usage (MS Office) - Strong command of English and a second language - Willingness to work retail hours - Additional advantages include previous management experience with at least 7 staff, retail/FMCG experience, third additional language, SAP and E-Scripting experience
Key Responsibilities: - Ensure adequate staffing of dispensary and self-medication areas with staff working within their scope of practice - Adhere to Good Pharmacy Practice rules and regulations - Regularly dispose of expired/short-dated stock and keep it separate from usable stock - Investigate and manage negative stock daily - Prepare for stocktake in advance - Follow stock ordering process for optimal purchasing compliance - Maintain stock levels - Lock away Schedule 6 medication and maintain a balanced register quarterly - Keep SAPC registration and annual registration fees up to date - Accurately interpret scripts and maintain professional responsibility in accordance with SAPC requirements - Capture script details accurately and verify patientsā details on the system - Ensure accurate picking/packing/labeling and checking of medication - Provide patients with clear instructions on correct medicine use - Stay updated on medical aid procedures and requirements for claims and dispensing - Explain medical aid costs to patients - Process all paperwork for accurate submission of claims to medical aids - Authorize chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication - Maintain customer profiles on the system and notify UCS for centralized merging - Address any messages on customer profiles and take suitable action - Ensure Dispensary Admin Assistant is trained and proficient in dispensary administration - Competencies include English and second language proficiency, good communication skills, basic dosing and drug interactions knowledge, customer service focus, supervisor experience, conflict management, strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, team player attitude, time management, pressure management, and computer literacy (MS Office) - Advantageous qualifications include knowledge of Retail/FMCG operations, third additional language, Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting experience, and familiarity with drug and family planning, and complementary medicine
Special Conditions: - Registration with the South African Pharmacy Council - Willingness to work retail hours - Ability to work in a controlled room temperature environment with security, limited space, health and safety, and risk management - Physical fitness to stand for long periods, valid driver's license, and reliable transportation - South African citizenship and clear credit and criminal records
