Job Title: Temporary Dispensary Support Position - Savannah Mall - Polokwane Company: Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited

Position Overview: Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a qualified individual for a temporary role as Dispensary Support at their Savannah Mall location. This position is ideal for learners who have completed the learner basic pharmacist assistant course and are preparing for registration with the Pharmacy Council of South Africa (SAPC) as a pharmacist's assistant learner basic. The primary goal is to provide hands-on experience in a pharmaceutical environment, promoting quality job learning.

Key Responsibilities: As a Dispensary Support staff member, you will be required to perform various tasks under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. These responsibilities include:

• Selling Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances - Assisting with compounding, manipulation, or preparation of non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances according to approved formulas and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) - Unpacking and merchandising stock, as well as cleaning dispensary and over-the-counter (OTC) shelves, under the guidance of the responsible pharmacist - Accurately interpreting prescriptions and adhering to legal requirements in accordance with the South African Pharmaceutical Council - Ensuring accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medication, and being aware of common dosages and drug interactions - Ensuring all medications are checked for accuracy by a pharmacist and signed by a pharmacist - Assisting in controlling stock, including cleanliness and organization of shelves, and monitoring medicine expiry dates - Following up with patients regarding script tracking reports as requested by the dispensary manager and scheduling follow-up appointments - Assisting with call centre scripts and patient service telephone calls - Providing health information to individuals and promoting healthy lifestyles - Assisting with scheme authorization of chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication - Reporting on low/ out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager - Receiving dispensary stock in accordance with company SOPs

Qualifications: To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

• Grade 12 – Matric or a Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics 50%, Life Science, and/or Physical Science, with an average of at least 50% - Completion of a proficiency test to demonstrate eligibility for registration with the Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a pharmacist's assistant learner basic

Competencies: Essential competencies required for this role include:

• English and a second language – reading, writing, and speaking - Time management, deadline-driven, and ability to handle pressure - Attention to detail - Good communication skills, including listening, customer service, problem-solving, team player, conflict management, leading by example, accountability, professional conduct, trustworthiness, and honesty - Computer and numerical skills

Advantageous Experience: While not essential, the following experience is advantageous:

• Retail FMCG experience - Previous experience in Dis-Chem front shop - A good performance record - Knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine - Familiarity with 3rd Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting systems
