Employment Opportunity Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited is seeking a Dispensary Support to join their team at the Makhado Crossing store. The primary objective is to hire capable learners who can successfully complete the learner basic pharmacist assistant course. This course provides learners with the necessary understanding of major pharmaceutical areas and dispensing practices, emphasizing quality through on-the-job learning. The role is fixed-term until the learner obtains basic pharmacist assistant registration with SAPC. Permanent employment will be offered upon qualification.
Minimum Requirements: Essential: Grade 12 or Matric with at least 50% in Pure Mathematics, Life Science, and/or Physical Science. Job Specification: Must pass a proficiency test to apply for registration with Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant. Under direct pharmacist supervision, the assistant may perform services such as selling Schedule 1 medicines, compounding non-sterile medicines, unpacking and merchandising stock, cleaning dispensary shelves, and following up on scripts. They must accurately interpret scripts, ensure medication accuracy, manage stock, follow up with patients, and assist with call centre scripts.
Competencies: Essential: Strong English and second language skills in reading, writing, and speaking. Time management, ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, good communication skills, customer service focus, problem-solving abilities, team player, conflict management, leadership, accountability, professional conduct, and trustworthy behavior. Proficiency in computer and numerical skills is advantageous.
Advantageous: Experience in retail FMCG, Dis-Chem front shop experience, good performance record, knowledge of drug and family planning, and complementary medicine. Familiarity with 3rd Unisolv, SAP, and E-Scripting systems is also beneficial.
Special Conditions: A proficiency test is required to demonstrate capability for SAPC registration. The applicant must be a South African citizen with a clear criminal and credit record.
