Parkdene Dispensary Support Position
Dis-Chem Pharmacies Limited currently has an opening for a Dispensary Support within their Parkdene store. The role is designed to recruit learners who will complete the learner basic pharmacist assistant course, thereby gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to work in a pharmaceutical environment.
This is a fixed-term contract position, which will continue until the learner is registered with the South African Pharmacy Council as a learner basic assistant. Upon successful completion of the course and registration, permanent employment will be considered.
Essential Requirements: - A minimum of Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent Senior Certificate with Pure Mathematics (50%), Life Science and/or Physical Science, and an average score of at least 50%.
Job Specification: - Candidates must be South African citizens and pass a proficiency test to apply for registration with the Pharmacy Council (SAPC) as a learner basic assistant. - They must be able to perform various tasks under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, including: - Selling Schedule 1 medicines or scheduled substances. - Assisting with the compounding, manipulation or preparation of non-sterile medicines or scheduled substances. - Unpacking, merchandising, and cleaning dispensary and over-the-counter (OTC) shelves. - Ensuring accurate picking, packing, labeling, and checking of medication. - Monitoring stock levels and expiry dates of Schedule 1 to Schedule 5 medicines or scheduled substances. - Following up with patients regarding script tracking reports and appointment follow-ups. - Assisting with call center scripts and patient service telephone calls. - Providing health information and promoting health-related services. - Helping with scheme authorization for chronic, HIV and AIDS, and oncology medication. - Reporting low/out-of-stock levels and stock errors to the dispensary manager. - Receiving dispensary stock in accordance with the company's Standard Operating Procedures.
Competencies: - Essential: Proficiency in English and a second language, time management, pressure tolerance, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills. - Advantageous: Experience in retail FMCG, familiarity with Dis-Chem front shop operations, and a good performance record. - Special competencies: Knowledge of drug and family planning, as well as complementary medicine.
Remuneration and Benefits: - Salary will be market-related.
Special Conditions: - Applicants must be South African citizens and pass a proficiency test for registration with the Pharmacy Council. - Candidates must hold a valid driving license and have no criminal or credit history.
