Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking dedicated Merchandisers for its Claremont store located in the Western Cape Region. You will be responsible for upholding Dis-Chem’s merchandising standards and delivering exceptional customer service.
Minimum Requirements: Essential: Grade 12 / Matric Up to 6 months’ retail experience Computer literate – MS Office Willing and able to work retail hours
Advantageous: At least 1 year retail experience
Job Description
- Restock merchandise to optimize sales. - Ensure delivered stock is properly stored and packed in the correct space promptly. - Verify that stock on shelves does not reach the sell-by date. - Maintain the full range of products on the shelves at all times. - Facilitate regular stock rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) principles. - Report low stock levels, out-of-stock items, damaged stock, and expired stock to management. - Assist with stock counts and general stocktaking. - Adhere to Dis-Chem’s operating standards, store layout, and planograms. - Ensure boxes are flattened and taken to the designated area after unpacking stock. - Present front shop shelves and products neatly, ensuring correct labels and pricing. - Report any price discrepancies to management. - Stay updated on current and new products. - Build, face up, stock, and maintain merchandising displays. - Maintain daily physical upkeep of store and merchandise displays, managing your designated stock in the storeroom and on the shop floor. - Assist with loading and off-loading of stock. - Clearly mark items without barcodes. - Help with back shopping. - Train new staff members. - Provide friendly, helpful, and courteous assistance and advice to all customers. - Follow up on all out-of-stock queries from customers. - Resolve all customer stock queries promptly. - Wear the correct uniform and badge at all times. - Minimize losses by handling merchandise carefully. - Adhere to Dis-Chem policies, SOPs, and health and safety regulations.
Competencies
- Essential: Strong command of the English language - Presentable - Effective engagement with customers, management, and staff - Trustworthy and honest - Time management
- Advantageous: Bilingual - Knowledge of merchandising standards and the FMCG industry - Product and category knowledge - Ability to analyze ZMORE reports for ordering and stock taking - Report bad/suspicious behavior relating to both staff and customers
