The Planner Miladys is responsible for devising, implementing, and managing a profitable assortment in partnership with the buyer and location planner, leveraging analysis to align with the company’s strategic objectives. Key responsibilities include stock management, business growth, merchandise strategy, product review, and current trade monitoring. The role requires a degree or diploma, three years of retail planning experience, and skills in commercial acumen, negotiation, and analytical abilities.

Job Description

The Planner Miladys will devise, implement, and manage a well-balanced profitable assortment in partnership with the buyer and location planner. This role will leverage historical, trend, and customer/store analysis to align with the Company’s strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

Stock Management

• Ensure timely placement of orders from strategic suppliers to meet demand as outlined in the strategy and review process. - Revise PIS (Put into stock) based on external factors like supplier or DC issues. - In response to current market trends and customer demand, modify the forward order book and manage underperforming stock through markdowns.

Business Growth & Opportunity

• Lead the growth and profitability of your department by identifying sales growth opportunities, evaluating category extensions, and analyzing competitor activities (via comp shop analysis) with our customer at the forefront.

Merchandise Strategy

• Create a seasonal product strategy for your department in accordance with company strategy, taking into account post-mortem analyses, PMO (Price Mark On) targets, test money, OTB (Open to Buy), budgets, pricing strategies, supplier strategies, marketing & digital elements, etc., to achieve departmental targets.

Product Review

• Formulate a strategic assortment for the department (considering subcategories, planned promotions, volume opportunities, store profiles, optimums, price-point plan, replenishment, etc.), in alignment with company and seasonal strategies, to meet departmental review plan targets.

Current Trade

• Regularly monitor and respond to current trade by analyzing product and store performance for your department, making suitable trade decisions (including stock and order book management, actioning markdowns, promotional activities, supplier negotiations for cancellations and discounts) to maximize sales.

Qualifications

Education

• Degree or NQF Level 6 / Diploma

Experience

• 3 Years of retail planning experience

Knowledge/ Skills

• Commercial acumen - Economic understanding of supply and demand - Retail market and industry knowledge - Numerical skills - Effective communication skills (verbal & written) - Negotiation skills - Proficiency in MS Office Applications - Conflict management - Analytical skills - Business understanding of Milady's business processes, MRPG Systems & BI and the Milady's customer.
