Our client based in Cape Town, within the leather retail sector, is looking for an experienced Retail Team Leader. The successful applicant should possess a minimum of 3+ years of experience in supervisory roles within the leather industry, alongside at least 3+ years’ experience working on the retail floor in a leather merchant setting. A Matric (Grade 12) qualification is mandatory, while higher education will be viewed favorably. The ideal candidate should have a robust grasp of sales and marketing systems in retail settings and the capacity to manage a team, driving performance and customer service excellence.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3+ years supervisory experience in the leather industry. - Minimum of 3+ years’ retail or shop floor experience within the leather merchant industry. - Matric (Grade 12) qualification is essential. - Tertiary education is advantageous. - Strong understanding of sales and marketing systems within a retail environment. - Proven track record of success with demonstrated results. - Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. - Excellent time management and organizational skills. - Ability to lead, motivate, and inspire a team effectively. - High level of emotional intelligence. - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. - Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. - Valid driver’s license and own vehicle preferred.

Duties

• Provide operational support to the Retail Sales Team. - Oversee the effective and efficient daily operations of the Retail Sales Team, ensuring high standards of housekeeping, customer service, and achievement of budgeted sales. - Responsible for expanding the existing customer database. - Accountable for an individual sales target while setting a benchmark in face-to-face sales and customer service excellence. - Prepare and complete daily, monthly, and yearly reports for management, ensuring all team administration is in line with company policies and procedures.
