Description
The role involves heading the design, execution, troubleshooting, documentation, deployment, and upkeep of software-based solutions, coding, and improving software/systems in line with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government.
Responsibilities
• Lead the creation and enhancement of new and existing software features. • Implement, debug, document, and release software solutions. • Provide maintenance and enhancements for current systems. • Undertake coding tasks for software systems. • Supervise the Software Development team.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum: Matric (Grade 12) • Experience: 6 - 7 Years’ experience with the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), within systems development, implementation, and maintenance/enhancements in a corporate sector organization. • Experience should include solid proficiency in EGL, jcl, bcobol, javascript, SQL, and Oracle Database knowledge.
Technical Competencies
• Familiarity with the user requirement process. • Knowledge of bcobol, COBOL software development processes and associated technologies in computer science including algorithms, data structures, operating systems, and databases. • Ability to design and develop test plans and software simulators to support various testing levels. • Capability to report on testing results and discrepancies between software and related documentation. Proficiency in development methodologies (e.g., RUP, OpenUp, Agile), SDLC COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf) Products, and Security (Software and Technologies). Comprehensive knowledge of software testing techniques and tools. Extensive knowledge and experience with one or more of the major programming languages EGL.
