SHERQ Manager Overview Eastern Personnel Consultants seeks a dynamic and compliance-focused SHERQ Manager to join their senior management team. Reporting directly to the COO and CFO, this individual will be responsible for the strategic development and implementation of Safety, Health, Environment, Risk, and Quality systems across all facilities.
Key Responsibilities - Strategy & Governance: Develop and execute a strategic SHERQ plan aligned with company objectives, oversee executive reporting, and ensure multi-site compliance files remain audit-ready. - Health & Safety Management: Implement OHSA compliance frameworks, conduct risk assessments, lead incident investigations, coordinate SHE committees, and enforce safety standards. - Contractor Compliance: Manage contractor onboarding, vetting, permit-to-work protocols, and safety file audits. - Risk Management & Continuity: Develop risk registers, deploy mitigation controls, analyze trend data, and support corporate insurance and business continuity planning. - Quality & Environmental Management: Maintain ISO systems, ensure compliance with environmental regulations, and manage quality corrective actions. - Financial & Budgetary Control: Manage the SHERQ budget, track procurement variances, and optimize resources while maintaining compliance. - People Management & Training: Lead the SHERQ team, coordinate corporate induction training, maintain training logs, and upskill SHE representatives.
Minimum Requirements - Education: Matric Certificate and National Diploma/Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. - Certifications: SAMTRAC qualification required; ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 certification required. - Experience: 5-7 years of SHERQ management experience in multi-site industries. - Legislative Expertise: Proficient understanding of OHSA, COIDA, NEMA, Hazardous Chemical Agents Regulations, and local Fire Safety By-Laws. - Licensing: Valid driver's license. - References: Professional references from previous employers necessary.
Highly Advantageous Credentials - NEBOSH General Certificate. - Certified ISO Lead Auditor. - Registration with SACPCMP as CHSM/PrCHSM. - Incident Investigation Level 3 certification.
Legal Requirements Candidates must be South African citizens with a clean criminal record and a clear credit history. A 3-month probation period applies to ensure suitability for the role.
Remuneration & Benefits - Basic Salary: Negotiable based on experience. - Provident Fund: 7.5% employee contribution, 8% company contribution through MICFA. - Annual Bonus: Paid in December (pro-rata). - Leave Days: 18 days per annum. - Probation: 3-month period with performance evaluation.
Working Hours & Environment - Standard Hours: 08:00 ā 17:00, Monday to Friday (60-minute daily lunch break). - Overtime: Paid as per MIBCO Agreement. - Environment: Fast-paced corporate environment requiring nationwide oversight. - Policy Note: Completion and return of Standard Working Procedures manual within the first week.
