The Architect Production Grade A role involves providing professional quantity surveying and cost management services to client departments and regional offices, ensuring financial control, value engineering, and cost optimization in infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of construction legislation and regulations, as well as proficiency in relevant software and strong analytical, planning, and communication skills. They must possess a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, registration as a Professional Architect, and at least 5 years of experience in the field of architecture.

**Requirements**

To be considered for this role, applicants must possess the following qualifications and experience:

• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Architectural Studies, or a related field (NQF level 7 as recognized by SAQA), accompanied by a Grade 12 certificate. * Registration as a Professional Architect with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession (SACAP) is mandatory, as per the Architectural Profession Act, 2000 (Act No. 4 of 2000). * A minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of architecture, with at least 3 years of post-professional registration experience. A valid driver's license is also required.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies**

The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of construction legislation, regulations, and frameworks applicable to the public sector, including the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), Treasury Regulations, Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Act, Government Immovable Asset Management Act (GIAMA), Construction Regulations, and National Building Regulations. Proficiency in quantity surveying software such as WinQS, as well as AutoCAD, MS Project, and Microsoft Office Suite, is essential.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of cost planning, contract administration (JBCC, NEC, GCC), building cost norms, and lifecycle costing. Strong analytical, planning, problem-solving, and report-writing skills are required, as well as excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. The ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and multiple infrastructure projects simultaneously is also essential.

**Responsibilities**

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional quantity surveying and cost management services to client departments and regional offices. This will involve ensuring financial control, value engineering, and cost optimization in the delivery of infrastructure projects.

Key responsibilities will include

• Evaluating, appointing, and monitoring the performance of consultants and contractors in accordance with departmental policies. * Managing the implementation and monitoring of construction contracts, including certification of payments and resolution of contractual claims. * Conducting feasibility studies, developing cost estimates, and maintaining accurate project budgets and cash flows. * Undertaking research and implementing new methods, technologies, and sustainable solutions in infrastructure delivery. * Ensuring alignment with the Infrastructure Delivery Management System (IDMS), Infrastructure Procurement and Delivery Management (IPDM) toolkit, and relevant prescripts. * Providing technical support in the preparation of tender documentation, bid evaluations, and adjudication processes.
