**Job Summary:**
As a key member of the Dis-Chem Pharmacies team, the Technical & Compliance Officer plays a pivotal role in ensuring the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of products across all suppliers. This position involves conducting comprehensive checks, audits, and assessments to guarantee that products meet the highest standards, while also resolving any issues that may arise.
**Minimum Requirements:**
To excel in this role, candidates must possess a degree in a relevant field, such as Food Science, Food Technology, Dietetics, Nutrition, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Consumer Science, or a related discipline. A minimum of 2-5 years of experience in technical, compliance, quality assurance, regulatory, or related roles in retail, manufacturing, or pharmacy is also essential. Food safety or quality system auditing is a valuable asset.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Regulatory Product Compliance:**
The Technical & Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring product compliance through regular checks, including labelling, formulation, registrations, and regulatory requirements. This will involve conducting site visits, audits, assessments, and reporting to verify vendor compliance. Additionally, the role will entail ensuring product marketing material and in-store collateral comply with regulatory standards. To support new product development (NPD) processes, the Technical & Compliance Officer must guarantee that compliance and safety standards are met. Furthermore, the position involves investigating product issues, complaints, and quality concerns in a timely and effective manner.
**Stakeholder Engagement:**
Effective collaboration with suppliers, regulatory bodies, and internal stakeholders is crucial in resolving compliance issues. The Technical & Compliance Officer will work closely with the Technical Compliance Manager to conduct audits, testing, and reporting. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with NPD, Category, and marketing teams to ensure product approvals meet regulatory standards.
**Governance and Risk Management:**
The Technical & Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and compliance standards. This involves accurately informing internal stakeholders of any new regulations, assisting with product analysis programs, safety, and quality assurance standards and procedures. The role also entails maintaining compliance records, trackers, documentation, and reporting. To mitigate risks, the Technical & Compliance Officer must identify and escalate product safety and regulatory risks. Support for recall and risk management processes, as well as handling complaints and queries related to scientific, QA, technical, and regulatory matters, is also a key aspect of the role. Additionally, the position involves supporting and contributing to sustainability projects.
