**Requirements**
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess a solid foundation in engineering principles, complemented by relevant professional experience and registration. The minimum educational requirement is a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng), Bachelor of Science (BSc), or Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Civil Engineering, obtained after completing Grade 12. Additionally, applicants must be registered with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) and hold a minimum of three (3) years of post-qualification engineering experience.
In terms of work experience, candidates should have a proven track record in project and programme management, design, construction, supervision, and contract administration of roads, bridges, and buildings. A valid driver's licence is also essential, as is the willingness to travel to project sites, including remote locations.
**Key Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies**
This role requires a deep understanding of engineering design, project investigation, and contract management within the context of infrastructure and PMU functions. Technical competence in preparing specifications, technical reports, and project documentation is essential, as is experience in project and contract management, including risk, quality, and safety management. Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to public sector infrastructure projects is also crucial.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills, as well as strong communication and report writing skills. Additionally, proficiency in computer software, including relevant engineering and project management tools, is necessary.
