The Chief Works Inspector - Electrical is responsible for conducting thorough electrical inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and legislation, and for administering the department's electrical works, including contract administration and quality control. The role requires a National Diploma in Technology or equivalent, a passed trade test in the electrical environment, and at least three years' relevant experience. To be considered for this position, applicants must possess a National Diploma in Technology (T/N/S streams) or an equivalent qualification, coupled with a passed trade test in the electrical environment or registration as an Engineering Technician. **Key Responsibilities:**

As the Chief Works Inspector - Electrical, you will be responsible for conducting thorough inspections to ensure that all electrical work is carried out in compliance with relevant regulations and legislation. Your duties will include:

• Conducting inspections of new and maintenance work on project sites to verify compliance with regulations and proper quality control * Preparing detailed reports, specifications, and estimates for unplanned maintenance and minor new work * Developing and implementing electronic record systems to track work progress and completion * Compiling progress reports on outstanding and finalised work, as well as developing and interpreting plans and sketches * Adjudicating quotations and bids, and providing recommendations on technical aspects * Liaising with stakeholders, advising contractors on compliance with legislation and procedures, and verifying invoices and certifying progress payments * Ensuring effective contract administration, resolving project-related problems, and developing progress reports * Identifying skills development needs and providing training and development opportunities for Works Inspectors * Providing guidance on the interpretation and application of legislation, policies, and procedures * Ensuring quality control and efficient workflow of work done by Works Inspectors, and monitoring the proper utilisation of equipment, stores, and expenditure * Administering the departmental performance management and development system
